Edwin Flores is an award-winning journalist who currently contributes as a reporter and video producer for nbc latino, the english-language latino section of nbcnews.com. he previously produced for the NBC news now program Stay Tuned NOW with Gadi Schwartz. Before then, he reported for NBC Latino. Flores covered daily stories, liveblogs, enterprise features and special projects. He’s reported on various stories such as the L.A. City Council scandal; Florida’s sweeping immigration bill; abortion rights; student loan relief; the fate of DACA; Gen Z Latinos and the controversy around the term Latinx, among many others. His work has been featured on NBC News Digital, NBCU Academy, TODAY, MSNBC, NBC News NOW and Noticias Telemundo.
Flores was recognized with a NAHJ 2023 Ñ Award for his reporting and producing in NBC Latino’s 2022 Hispanic Heritage special report. He was also recognized with a 2022 National Ruben Salazar Award for his reporting on California farmers impacted by the state’s water drought. He also served as an NBCU Academy Embed, which he was selected through a competitive national recruiting process in NBCU Academy’s Embed Program inaugural cohort — part of a multimillion-dollar DEI commitment by Comcast.
Born and raised in Anaheim, California, he graduated in 2021 from nearby California State University, Fullerton, with a bachelor’s degree in Communications with an emphasis in Journalism and a Digital Media certificate. As a student, he was recognized with 25 honors and awards for his journalism work, including an NAHJ 2021 Student Ñ Award, a Society of Professional Journalists Broadcast News Videography Award and he was a finalist for a Student Emmy Award.
